Had a beautiful goodbye today

Since late 2021 I frequent a queer youth club in my area. When I was first there, I got to know two wonderful guardians. Of course, as time progresses, new people come and old ones go; the first guardian I met left the club about half a year ago.

Today was the last day for the second. It was a wonderful time playing games, I got to reminisce on the years I’ve spent there, and realise just how much it changed me for the better. It is still an awesome time to be there, but it is a different feeling now that the two people who I have entrusted with many of my thoughts and wishes will no longer come to the club. I got to know new people, sure, and I don’t miss the past at all, but I can’t help feeling nostalgic for it.

We hugged twice, and he told me how much it meant to him that I trusted them enough to come almost every week, for years. How much of a privilege it was to be allowed to accompany me on my journey.

I was mere seconds from having tears in my eyes as I realised just how much this man has helped me in my life.
